UK Modern Slavery Helpline and Resource Centre

The Modern Slavery Helpline and Resource Centre brings us closer to the eradication of modern slavery. It provides victims, the public, statutory agencies and businesses access to information and support on a 24/7 basis.

Modern Slavery Helpline

Through the Helpline:

• Potential victims are able to speak to fully-trained Helpline Advisors who can help them access relevant services, including Government-funded support through the National Referral Mechanism
• Statutory agencies can call to gain support in dealing with potential victims, and to receive guidance in accessing all the information and tools available through the associated Resource Centre
• Businesses can call for information, advice and also to report any concerns they have about potential instances of modern slavery in their operations
• Members of the public and those delivering services on the front-line can also report any modern slavery suspicions or concerns about individuals, premises or locations

We have retained the existing Helpline number previously used by the NSPCC - 08000 121 700. The number is free to call and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Helpline, based in Bedfordshire, commenced operations in October 2016. To ensure it provides the services potential callers want, we are working closely with a range of diverse stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, non-governmental organisations, businesses, media and faith organisations. Our advisory board will allow stakeholders to feed in their expertise, and our long-term communications strategy will continue to raise awareness for the Helpline, ensuring its benefits are maximised.

Resource Centre

The Resource Centre complements the Helpline by:

• Providing a central hub of information, advice and guidance for the public, statutory agencies, businesses and the media
• Building a picture of modern slavery across the UK by drawing on information and data from a range of sources, including the Central Registry for business transparency statements
• Sharing this data with relevant statutory agencies to support their efforts in tackling modern slavery and to help prevent further instances occurring
• Providing a central directory of services, organisations and materials across the UK and internationally, better signposting individuals and organisations to what is available
