Domestic servitude can be very difficult to see. It happens behind closed doors, and intimidation and control tactics will often mean the victim can’t leave the house, or can’t leave it on their own. Victims are often threatened that they will be deported or detained for immigration matters if they leave or seek help. This leaves victims scared of authority figures and in fear of accepting or asking for help.
Forced to carry out household tasks
Threatened to be reported for deportation
