People who are subject to forced labour will have many different experiences. Forced labour occurs when someone is forced or compelled to provide labour, and they have not provided this labour voluntarily. Groups of people who are subject to forced labour are often housed together in houses of multiple occupancy. This makes it easier for exploiters to control their movement and activity. Forced labour can take place anywhere that an individual might normally expect to be paid for work, including takeaways and restaurants, construction sites, nail bars, hand car washes or warehouses, for example.
